Hi, Future Franchisees!

I’m Rick, the coach, mentor, and entrepreneur behind the A Franchise Coach company.

For many years, I struggled to find a path to personal and financial independence. Inventing a new business idea from scratch is hard.  I know, I tried a few times.  

Over a quarter century ago I was introduced to franchising and it changed my life.  That’s why, in 2002, I founded A Franchise Coach.  Since then, I have been paying it forward with my book and through my personalized franchise coaching service.

My personal vision is simple.  'Through humble strength, empower others to achieve more that they dreamed possible.' 

The Educated Franchisee Process

Step 1

What franchise is right for you?

There are many ways to begin the discovery process – most ways are wrong. Different franchises require different sets of skills and personalities.

Together we’ll determine what you would be good at and what would fit your abilities. What are your financial parameters, lifestyle objectives, and location preferences? We will figure out the characteristics of your perfect franchise.

Step 2

Target Franchisors

Not all franchises are equal. We know which franchisors are growing and which are not. We know which have happy franchisees and proven systems and which do not.

We’ll identify multiple franchise companies that are worthy of your consideration. Our goal is to find franchise systems that fit you in every way

Step 3

Franchise Research

Now it’s time to carefully and diligently explore each targeted franchise. You must know what you are doing and make sure you cover all your bases.

We will speak every week and more often if needed. During each call we will review what you have accomplished, answer your questions, and provide detailed coaching and guidance regarding the next steps.

Step 4

Make a decision

We cannot make the decision for you – nor should we. All we can do is provide you with a thoughtful sounding board and well reasoned decision making approaches.

This is the time when you will feel the most excitement and the most fear.   Our job will be to keep you balanced so you can make the best decision based on reasonable expectations.

Staying In Touch

Over the years, we will say in touch. As you build your business you will have good days, and you will have some challenging days. We are here for you.

“I had already been researching both franchise and start-up opportunities for several months when I started working with Rick after reading his book “The Educated Franchisee”. His help, guidance, and support were critical in the process leading to my purchasing my new franchise. It was not an easy scenario – for personal reasons, I had very firm geographic boundaries in a relatively rural part of the country, and to make things even more challenging, I was recovering from a disabling injury. Even though I had read his book and was using the strategies outlined therein, working with Rick in the “discovery” phase was extremely enlightening. His input prompted me to re-examine some of my thoughts and assumptions, and his evaluation of my personality and style was invaluable. He came back with several business ideas, including one that I initially thought “no way, not ever, doesn’t fit”. But Rick said encouraged me to look into it.
