The Mind of a 4th Grader

This morning I spent some time in a 4th grade classroom.  The program is called Project Teach and the purpose of the visit is to discuss first impressions, career planning and the importance of education.  What tremendous fun.  Try asking a 4th grader how the world works and what they plan to do once they grow up.  The answer is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

What do you want to do when you grow up?

I want to own a veterinary clinic and help animals
I want to teach people how to win at video games
I want to build a website that sells items on consignment.
I want to become an artist.
I want to own a business that makes things out of melted gummy bears (True)

It was interesting that none of the children said, ‘I want to be an employee’.  These 4th graders are full of really interesting entrepreneurial ideas.  If you are looking for fearless energy, talk to a 4th grader.
